Addressing the Issues That Matter
Welcome to the Issues page for Hatch For Utah. Here, we outline the key concerns facing the district and our proposed solutions. Your engagement is vital as we work together for a brighter future.

Our Focus: Key Issues for the district
The people of District 2 have voiced their concerns, and we are listening. Our campaign is prioritizing the following critical issues:
- Immigration
- Secure Elections
- Housing Affordability
- Economic Uncertainty
- Crime
- Agriculture
- School Quality (choice, overcrowding, parental control, violence, food, teacher abuse, teacher politics)
- Environmental Concerns
- National Defense

Innovative Solutions for a Stronger Future
Our approach to these challenges is grounded in tangible, forward-thinking solutions designed to benefit District 2. Here are just a few solutions:
- National Security & Economic Revitalization: We propose closing underutilized overseas bases to reduce our global footprint and associated risks. The cost savings will be reinvested into expanding the National Guard, creating numerous full-time roles. Partnering with Homeland Security and Immigration Enforcement, these new bases can be utilized as joint task forces to meet state deportation and security needs. This initiative will stimulate our local economy, create jobs, and address the critical talent vacuum in modern technological defense needs by engaging the bright minds of our state.
- Water Security & Economic Prosperity: Our bold strategy to address the water crisis will harness the talent and capacity of our community, generating significant employment opportunities. Abundant water resources will have a cascading positive effect on our economy, particularly supporting our vital agricultural sector.

Why These Issues & Solutions Matter for you
Northern Utah is a place many aspire to live, but our growth has reached a point where adding more residents without proper planning creates significant negative externalities. Our plans are designed to revitalize less desirable areas, create new opportunities, and generate substantial wealth for our community. We are building a future that will make our progenitors proud.
Public Safety
The first and easiest step to make our society dramatically safer is to stop offenders from reoffending. Much of this is handled at the state level. However one growing trend worth highlighting and absolutely targetable by Congress is this: There is a disturbing amount of criminals from other States coming here either on no bail, jumping bail, or a shortened sentence. Then committing crimes here. Sometimes egregious ones.
The commerce clause is an immediate vector we can use. As there is a lot of precedence.
I suggest that we simply hold judges accountable for their actions. If every no bail release comes with the calculus of "will I personally suffer if this criminal reoffends" Overnight things will change for the better.
While not defined as an accessory under current legal standards I believe there are several approaches that can be used to put liability onto them for actively putting society at risk.
The Second Amendment
I agree with the definition of arms from Samuel Johnson who's 1773 definition described "arms" as "weapons of offence, or armour of defence," From my time in the Combat Engineers I know full well that a pound of plastic explosives, a blasting cap and some det cord can do just as much to win a fight as your rifle. Not only do I think that law abiding citizens should be able to buy fully automatic machine guns, suppressors and the like without restriction. They should be able to equip themselves with the full panoply of weapons used by warfighters.
We need to abolish the ATF for their persecution of Americans. Let legitimate enforcement be taken over by a different agency. Review the cases for entrapment or abuse and restore the rights to wronged citizens.
Pass clear legislation protecting the 3D printing space.
End registration requirements for suppressors
National concealed carry reciprocity
National right to self defense- no duty to retreat
